The west coast of Scotland is one of the world’s
most varied and interesting cruising grounds. The warm
Gulf Stream encourages an abundance of marine and bird
life and a variety of flora and fauna. There are hundreds
of islands to explore and deep sea-lochs where mountains
rise up from the rocky shoreline.
A day trip from the Lodge can take you to the Summer
Isles to fish for pollock and mackerel. Land on almost
any island and you are likely to see seals, maybe an
otter, and a great variety of birds including puffins,
skuas and guillemots. But you might prefer to picnic
on a sandy beach or to hoist the sails and catch the
wind for an exhilarating sail.
Sailors who would like to take LOBIE II further afield
may like to cruise in the Hebrides or the Orkney Islands.
